Chipboard screws are self-tapping screws most commonly designed with a single thread that runs all the way from the base of the head to the tip. The thread of a chipboard screw is often deemed as ‘coarse’. This means there is a larger distance between the peaks of the thread. Therefore, the screw will go through the soft material a lot quicker. Chipboard screws come in two common types: smooth shank and full thread.
